Most Entities have their own menu:
- User, we have seen how to manage Users and Roles on this section;
- Organisation, these are created upon interplay with a User Entity, and managed at the Dashboards menu or the Explorer.
You can also edit most of them from the Entities menu, accessed on the Settings page under your avatar name.
The page that is displayed shows previously discussed menus on your left-hand side (IAM, My Account, and Authentication Options), and the navigation to each Entity submenu is in the tabs shown at the top-centre.
Except for the Notification Profiles, it is not possible to add or create new Entities from this menu. Instead, you can Search, Edit, Delete, Go to or even Share the selected Entity (upon applicable permissions). The procedure for each tab looks about the same, so we’ll look at them to see how they differ.
A typical User Entity board looks as follows:
On the Entities navigation bar, at the top of the page, the User Group (Widgets, Dashboards, and Dashboard Groups) is displayed first. Since these are shareable Entities, we’ve divided entries into two types:
<entity>”, e.g., “My Widgets” - which are the Entities that you created and have Ownership over; and
- “Shared with me” - listing Entities that have been shared with the logged User.
Notice the total number of entities is indicated in between round brackets
Next, we present the available actions for each User Group’s Entity, and how it differs from a perspective of Owned to Shared, for a standard User.
If you are an Admin user, you have a different access:
Following the first submenus are the Organisation Entities, which are transverse to every associated User within the same Organisation.
The page shows a list of the Entities (notice once more the total in between
()) and editing options are shown when you hover with your mouse.
Since all users can manage them, we can digest the allowed actions over these Entities in one table:
|Entities||Alerts||Custom Timelines||Metrics||Notification Profiles|
|Edit (see below)||❌||✅*||✅*||✅*|
* Some fields are particular to that Entity, so what you can edit is different:
